We do not know her original name, or if she ever had one. We do not know where she came from, or how she ended up in Yang Jilin's hands. What we know is that she was alive, and that she deserved to stay that way.

A member of No More gave her the name Paisley, because every victim deserves a name, and because the act of naming is the first step in refusing to let them be reduced to a number, a case file, a statistic. Paisley was a living creature who felt pain and fear, and she is remembered as one.

On July 25, 2024, Yang Jilin killed Paisley with a meat cleaver. He dismembered her. It was filmed. It was distributed through the same network of Telegram channels that treats animal torture as entertainment and commerce.

Yang Jilin operates under the alias "Little Xi Winnie," a reference designed to provoke. He is part of a system where animals are acquired, tortured, filmed, and sold to paying audiences. Paisley was not his first victim, and without intervention, she will not be his last.

Paisley's name was chosen by the community that fights for animals like her every day. She represents the countless victims who are never identified, never named, never mourned by anyone outside the people who document what was done to them.

She has a name now. She is remembered. That is more than her killer ever intended to allow.
